Move-In Information
What to sort out before the day, what to expect when you arrive, and who to ask about anything specific to your home.
Your home comes first
The steps below are the ones that apply to most moves. Anything specific to your property — access, parking, utilities, what is already set up — comes from your lease and from management, and takes precedence over anything on this page.
Before move-in
Worth confirming with us in the weeks before your date, so nothing is outstanding when you arrive.
- Your move-in date, and the time from which the home is yours.
- Your current phone number and email, so we can reach you on the day.
- That any lease paperwork still outstanding has been signed and returned.
- That any payments required before move-in have cleared, and what they covered.
- Whether any utilities need transferring into your name, and by when.
Move-in day
What to expect, and what to have settled before you set off.
- How you will get keys or access, and where from.
- Parking, gate, or building entry arrangements for the move itself.
- Whether a move-in condition check is taking place, and whether you need to be there.
- Who to contact that day if something is wrong with the home.
- What to do if you arrive and cannot get in.
Utilities
Which of these are yours to set up, and which are already covered, depends on the property and your lease. Check which applies to your home before your date rather than assuming — a service that is not transferred in time can be switched off.
- Electricity
- Gas
- Water
- Trash and recycling collection
- Internet and phone
What to bring
Bring whatever of the following applies to your move — we will tell you in advance if any of it is needed.
- Photo identification, if we have asked for it.
- Confirmation of any payment you have made, if it was made recently.
- Your lease, or the contact details of whoever you have been dealing with.
- Any access codes or instructions already sent to you.
Property-specific details
Property-specific move-in instructions will be provided by management before your move-in date. If your date is close and you have not received them, ask — it is quicker than guessing.
Once you are in
Two things worth doing in the first few days.
- Report anything that is not right
- Damage, something not working, or anything that looks like it predates you. Reporting it early is how it gets recorded as already there.
- Know who to call in an emergency
- Worth reading before you need it, not during.
Need help?
If anything here does not match what you have been told, or you are not sure which parts apply to your home, ask us — we would rather answer twice than have you find out on the day.
